Spencer (17 years ago - 2/29/08)
Hi.  I'm Spencer.  At 17, I have the honor of being the  oldest dog at SplashDog.  I've been coming weekly for over 3 years to ease my arthritis pain.  Popcorn (another SplashDog client) sent me.  We met at Swanson's Nursery which is a  great, dog-friendly place for a hot date with your human.but that's another story.

At first, I wasn't all that thrilled about the idea of jumping in a pool Hey, I'm not one of those water dogs like a Lab or a Golden who live to chase balls and go swimming.  I'm a herding dog/snow dog mix of some sort with the longest, most luxurious fur you've ever seen.  I don't like getting wet.  And there's nothing to herd in the pool.

For a while, I resisted getting in the pool but, now, I don't mind at all because I love what happens once I'm in the pool.  I love the massage part.and the floating part  Ahhh, to just float with no weight on my poor sore joints is pure heaven.  It's not unusual for me to relax so much that I begin to fall asleep and someone has to hold my chin so that my head doesn't go under.

But my therapist makes me swim, too.  I'm still not thrilled with that. She plays all kinds of tricks on me to make sure I work my back legs. She's not as easy to manipulate as my human is!  But, I must admit, I feel fabulous afterwards.  On the rare occasion that I miss an appointment, I can barely walk by the time the next appointment comes around.

I like meeting and greeting and sniffing all the other SplashDog clients, too.  And being the center of attention of my therapist and my human is great quality time together. Oh, and there are treats.  Did I mention treats?  Yeah, treats.  As many as you can scam.

Dax

May 8, 1994 - june 2, 2008

On Thursday, May 8, 2008 Ch. Pulali's Peppercreek Dax will celebrate his 14th birthday. A cancer and stroke survivor, he continues to amaze us and entertain the rest  of the pack. He was laid up in October but now has swim therapy once a week, short regular walks in the neighborhood and a 3.5 mile "enduro walk" every Sunday morning at Marymoor Park with his sister and her kids.

Special credit goes to Dr. Nancy Bauer and Dr. Peggy Vogt of Carkeek Park Vet. Hosp., Dr. Tim Bauer of Critical Care Associates and Debbie  La Monica, his wonderful  swim therapist at Splashdog Spa in Edmonds.

Jax

We're so grateful for Splashdog as they were able to help our 12 year old Golden Retriever, Jax,  recover some of his mobility lost to his struggle with severe osteoarthritis.
At our first appointment, Jax could no longer get up without assistance and had a great amount of difficulty even walking.

A few visits later, he was not only able to get up by himself, but could walk further distances than he had in months.  He became more engaged with his surroundings at home and his enthusiasm would ignite on days he knew he was going to Splashdog.

For all this we are grateful and we believe this was all accomplished with the expertise and loving care of Massage Therapist, Leigh Anne Hardy.  Thank you so much for many, many months of work (and fun for Jax)!

In loving memory of Jax,
Linda Griffin and Victoria Lines
